2020 Boys High School Registration

Welcome to new players and their families and welcome back returning players and families to Crown Point Lacrosse!

We’re looking forward to our 9th season and we welcome back our Varsity head coach, Joe Laird and assistant coach, John Garcia and our new JV head coach, Bryce Schwuchow.  After a memorable and record breaking 2019 season, our Coaches, our HS Boys Coordinator, and club board are all looking forward with great anticipation to what the 2020 season will bring.

PLEASE NOTE, due to a 2013 IHSLA rule, you must live within the Crown Point School System and attend CPHS in order to join these teams.

TEAM MISSION STATEMENTS

The mission of our high school boys program is to uphold and advance the sport of lacrosse through the
development of a championship caliber program that encourages and promotes:

 A TEAM oriented approach.

 Sportsmanship & Respect between players, coaches, officials and competitors.

 Individual Athletic Development for each player.

 The development and refinement of positive character attributes and interpersonal skills of each player.

From the beginning of the indoor season until the end of the outdoor season, the priorities of a Crown Point Lacrosse player must be their morality/spirituality, family, academics, and then lacrosse. Should anything else (work, friends, Girlfriends, club sports, other extracurricular activities) move ahead of those priorities we ask that these boys not come out for lacrosse and take a roster spot from a player who wants it more.

2020 Varsity

The Crown Point Bulldog varsity lacrosse team competes and is treated as a varsity sport. The ultimate goal for the team is to compete for a state championship. In order to do so, we will attempt to assemble the best team possible as the coaching staff sees fit. It is in the best interest of the team to create a competitive environment to develop players on and off the field.

2020 Junior Varsity

The Crown Point Bulldog junior varsity lacrosse serves many purposes for our program. First, it serves as a developmental team to our varsity. Players will learn the skills and strategies necessary to play varsity at some point in their high school career. On the junior varsity level, we try to develop everyone equally, so that each player has the same chance at the varsity team in the future. Second, it allows the coaching staff to observe and predict players where players may be placed in the future.

Players will be placed on either JV or Varsity teams by coach evaluations of talent, skill level, effort, and sportsmanship. Evaluations of players will start at the first SMI training session (near the end of November) of the season and continue through indoor practices. Varsity players will exihibit more developed skills than those of the players on the JV roster, giving our JV players time to improve and master the skills necessary to play on the Varsity team in the future.

Tryouts

As our program has grown over the past few years, we are starting to reach the maximum capacity (45 total players) for our high school teams. If we have more players register than there are playing spots available, a try-out will he held. If this is the case, try-out information & dates will be communicated to all registered players. Tryouts will be based on a meritocracy.  A player can earn his way onto the team by following the team rules (including attendance, skill and attitude) and adhering to the Crown Point High School Athlete's code of conduct.

Refunds of Registration fees due by November 19, will NOT be returned after January 1, regardless of the outcome of tryouts.

2020 Middle School Girls Lacrosse Registration

Middle School Girls Lacrosse is open to girls in grades 5 through 8

Welcome to Crown Point Lacrosse Club. We are excited to be offering a girls middle school lacrosse team this year.  One of our Crown Point Lacrosse Alumi, Brigid Flaherty will be coaching our middle school girls team this year and we cannot wait for it to get underway.

Over the course of the next season, our Middle School girls team will practice, play, scrimmage, and compete over and over and will attend up to 2 travel tournaments. Indoor practices begin once weekly in February and move outdoors twice a week by the end of March. Games will begin in  April and should conclude in early June.

The game of girls lacrosse is played with differnet rules, equipment, and expectations than boys lacrosse. During youth lacrosse years, girls are permitted to play either boys or girls lacrosse, however once a female player reaches 9th grade they will only be eligible for our girls high school lacrosse team, so offering our middle school girls the opportunity to learn the sport of girls lacrosse and begin to lay down some foundations for them is the best way to prepare them for the high school girls team.

TEAM PHILOSOPHY AND EXPECTATIONS

The mission of the Crown Point Lacrosse club shall be to provide student athletes and families with an opportunity to develop their lacrosse skills in a safe environment that promotes personal growth and excellence while fostering teamwork, leadership, scholarship, and respect for others and self. Also to develop players skill in a competitive environment that prepares them to compete and contribute to the best of their abilities during their years of playing for Crown Point Lacrosse Club and beyond.

Each player is expected to participate equally at practice and other lacrosse team events. We realize some players may not be at all practices while others will be at more practices. As such, we must remain fair and equitable to the player’s playtime in direct proportion to participation levels. Also, the participant’s skill level will be continually evaluated during practice and games. We will do our very best to create proportional playtime for each participant based on participation and skill evaluation.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with the goals and expectations of the Middle School Girls Team. We hope each participant has fun while taking their lacrosse game to the next level.

10U & 8U

The mission of the Crown Point Lacrosse club shall be to provide student athletes and families with an opportunity to develop their lacrosse skills in a safe environment that promotes personal growth and excellence while fostering teamwork, leadership, scholarship, and respect for others and self. Also to develop players skill in a competitive environment that prepares them to compete and contribute to the best of their abilities during their years of playing for Crown Point Lacrosse Club and beyond.

The 10U and 8U players will be considered developmental teams and will be coached as such. All the participants will be introduced to entry-level skills and taught the fundamentals of the game while nurturing cooperation and sportsmanship. We wish to provide a positive experience for all the participants with the hopes of returning players year after year.

Each player is expected to participate equally at practice and other lacrosse team events. We will do our very best to create equal time for all players. We realize some players may not be at all practices while others will be at more practices. As such, we must remain fair and equitable to the player’s playtime in direct proportion to participation levels.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with the goals and expectations of the 10U and 8U teams. We hope each participant has fun while learning the game of lacrosse.
