Welcome to new players and their families and welcome back returning players and families to Crown Point Lacrosse!
After the chaos and heartache of Covid brought our season and our world to a screeching halt last March, we are very much looking forward to getting Crown Point Lacrosse back on the fields. That said we are planning for an incredible 2021 Spring Lacrosse season.
PLEASE NOTE, due to a 2013 IHSLA rule, you must live within the Crown Point School System and attend CPHS in order to join these teams.
TEAM MISSION STATEMENTS
The mission of our high school boys program is to uphold and advance the sport of lacrosse through the
development of a championship caliber program that encourages and promotes:
A TEAM oriented approach.
Sportsmanship & Respect between players, coaches, officials and competitors.
Individual Athletic Development for each player.
The development and refinement of positive character attributes and interpersonal skills of each player.
From the beginning of the indoor season until the end of the outdoor season, the priorities of a Crown Point Lacrosse player must be their morality/spirituality, family, academics, and then lacrosse. Should anything else (work, friends, Girlfriends, club sports, other extracurricular activities) move ahead of those priorities we ask that these boys not come out for lacrosse and take a roster spot from a player who wants it more.
2021 Varsity
The Crown Point Bulldog varsity lacrosse team competes and is treated as a varsity sport. The ultimate goal for the team is to compete for a state championship. In order to do so, we will attempt to assemble the best team possible as the coaching staff sees fit. It is in the best interest of the team to create a competitive environment to develop players on and off the field.
2021 Junior Varsity
The Crown Point Bulldog junior varsity lacrosse serves many purposes for our program. First, it serves as a developmental team to our varsity. Players will learn the skills and strategies necessary to play varsity at some point in their high school career. On the junior varsity level, we try to develop everyone equally, so that each player has the same chance at the varsity team in the future. Second, it allows the coaching staff to observe and predict players where players may be placed in the future.
Players will be placed on either JV or Varsity teams by coach evaluations of talent, skill level, effort, and sportsmanship. Evaluations of players will start at the first SMI training session (near the end of November) of the season and continue through indoor practices. Varsity players will exihibit more developed skills than those of the players on the JV roster, giving our JV players time to improve and master the skills necessary to play on the Varsity team in the future.
Tryouts
As our program has grown over the past few years, we are starting to reach the maximum capacity (45 total players) for our high school teams. If we have more players register than there are playing spots available, a try-out will he held. If this is the case, try-out information & dates will be communicated to all registered players. Tryouts will be based on a meritocracy. A player can earn his way onto the team by following the team rules (including attendance, skill and attitude) and adhering to the Crown Point High School Athlete's code of conduct.
Refunds of Registration fees due by November 19, will NOT be returned after January 1, regardless of the outcome of tryouts.
COMMUNICATION
Team communication will be via text, email, team website (www.crownpointlacrosse.com), Facebook (Crown Point Lacrosse) & Twitter (CrownPointLax). Please subscribe/friend these services to receive all team updates and check for our texts and email often.
2021 High School REGISTRATION BASE FEE - $350*
Families with multiple players will receive a $25 discount for the 2nd, 3rd player. Families with multiple players may also have the option of splitting the payment in half, with the balance due December 31, 2020.
Payments can be made by credit card online again this year. Please note that a 3% fee will be added to your registration fee to cover the cost of credit card processing should you choose to pay online. Or if you'd rather, payments will be accepted via check, thus avoiding the 3% service fee. Please make checks payable to “Crown Point Lacrosse” if you opt to pay via check.
Additionally, ALL PLAYERS will be required to participate in the fundraising activities as outlined in the FUNDRAISING section.
We are a self-supported, not-for-profit organization and depend on the monies raised by organized fundraising activities and business donations. Fundraising is essential to the continuation and growth of this program. Monies raised in fundraising will help purchase team equipment, indoor practice space, turf field, and officiating fees, coaching and league/tournament fees.
