CP Lax Adds First-Ever Program Alumni as Head Coach of the High School Boys Program

November 2021

In its twelfth season, Crown Point Lacrosse has hired its first-ever program Alumni, Abel Stewart, to lead the Boys High School Bulldogs. Coach Stewart is a Crown Point High School graduate from the Class of 2016, and as a CPLAX Bulldog Abel was a lead defenseman. During his time with Crown Point Lacrosse Coach Stewart learned great skills, excellent sportsmanship, and a team-first mentality.

Stewart came on board as an assistant coach three seasons ago working under former coach, Joe Laird. Having had the opportunity to be coached by Laird in high school and then coaching alongside of him gave Stewart an incredible opportunity to learn and grow as both a player and a coach. Looking ahead, Coach Stewart plans to continue to build on the successes of the boys developing lacrosse skills and engage the community growing between them while encouraging leadership and a competitive edge.

Coach Stewart will be joined by several other former Crown Point Lacrosse players as he and his team lead the Bulldogs this spring. Coach Bryce Schwuchow will return this year to lead the offense of the varsity team and Coach Josh Hollowell will return this year as well to further his work and development with the JV boys.
